  SECURITY STATEMENT
[Back to Terms and Conditions]

CRUISEDRIVE takes the security of your financial, personal and private information very seriously. This information is asked of you as a requirement for us to be able to provide you with our services, and in return we make every effort to protect the valuable private information that you entrust to us. The security statement below outlines our security procedures, protocols and statement of intent.

ONLINE ORDERING SYSTEM
We take your travel request (also referred to as, your order, booking or trip) through an online ordering system. When you, our users, submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line by 128 bit encryption, a secure encrypted database, and a GEOTRUST SSL Certificate that is prominently displayed on the home page.

After you click on any of the "order online" links that are to be found throughout the site, you will be linked to our system using the encrypted link. You will be able to check that the connection is secure and encrypted by looking at the address bar, where the URL (web page address) will be prefixed by "https://" (https: stands for a secure link rather than the standard http: prefix), or at the bottom of your browser, where you will see a padlock or key symbol.

Our online systems request personal and confidential information for only three reasons:

1. Booking a trip: we require your personal and contact information when taking an order for a booking.

2. Paying for a completed trip or booking: we will ask for your credit card or other payment information when a trip or booking is being confirmed. Your credit card or bank account will not be charged for the trip until just prior to, or the day on which the travel occurs.

3. Creating a Corporate Account: we enable our corporate and larger repeat clients to establish an online corporate account. This allows corporate and repeat clients to make booking arrangements without having to re-enter all their contact and personal information.

SECURE CERTIFICATE (SSL)
CRUISEDRIVE takes every precaution to protect our user's information. When the CRUISEDRIVE registration/order or booking form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - 128-bit SSL
(to learn more about our SSL certificate, follow this link to GEOTRUST).

SSL is short for Secure Sockets Layer, a protocol developed by Netscape for transmitting private documents via the Internet. SSL works by using a private key to encrypt data that's transferred over the (secure) SSL internet connection.  By convention, a (secure) SSL connection is also signified by a URL that begins with https: instead of the standard and unencrypted (not-secure) http: Both Netscape Navigator, Mozilla, Firefox and MS Internet Explorer support SSL.

A (secure) SSL connection is used on our site to encrypt the communications between your browser and our servers while we are requesting and obtaining confidential user information, such as credit card numbers and addresses.

While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator, Mozilla, Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are surfing publicly accessible web pages with an unencrypted link.

The padlock symbol will look like this or it may appear as a key like this.

INFORMATION ACCESS
While
CRUISEDRIVE uses SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices in an encrypted database. Only CRUISEDRIVE employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information.

Furthermore, ALL
CRUISEDRIVE employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices.  Any time new policies are added, our employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure our customers. information is protected.  Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept in a secure locked environment.
